Promoting Safe Migration at Nagdhunga

As a part of Maiti Nepal’s preventative strategy, Maiti Nepal operates information and vigilance booth in Nagdhunga, Kathmandu District.
Nagdhunga is situated in South-West of Kathmandu and is the only focal point of entry and exit from and into Kathmandu. Since Kathmandu has network of public transport to other rural and urban places of Nepal, almost all migrating people use this route to come to Kathmandu to get avail to public transport.
Since Nagdhunga is a critical point to disseminate information in sensitizing issue of trafficking, action programme was launched to provide information to general public on trafficking through accurate and verifiable information. This has encouraged community to build early warning system to prevent trafficking.
Information and surveillance team along with Woman police keep vigil on buses, trucks and other vehicles passing through Nagdhunga and provide information to children and women migrants on safe migration.
