- A horrifying example of extreme brutality -Dalit woman forced to eat faeces!!! - 2009-03-31
Kallikumari Biswokarma , a 48 year old woman , inhabitant of Pyutar VDC ward no 7 in Lalitpur district of Kathmandu valley was cruelly forced to eat her own excreta, by Bimala Lama, who is a principal of a local school. Kallikumari was charged of doing witchcraft and black magic.
Bimala and her accomplices mercilessly beat up kallikumari in front of the entire villagers. Bimala threatened to cut her breasts with a blade if she didn't confess that she was a witch. Shivering Kallikumari was compelled to excrete in public and later Bimala made her eat her own faeces.
We are of the view that this kind of sinful crime is the result of vicious superstitions prevailing in the society. It is severe violation of human rights. When the principal of a school demonstrates such brutality, we perceive it as a direct challenge to the human rights activists and laws of the state.
At present, Kallikumari has been temporarily sheltered at Maiti Nepal along with her daughter. She is waiting desperately to see the perpetrators penalized.
