8 girls rescued under horrible conditions provided shelter In Maiti Nepal
Sapana(name changed) of Nuwakot district had been held captive in Tihar Jail(India) on charges of Passport Tampering while attempting to go abroad via India in pretext of job. She was rescued through Maiti India after series of tireless efforts by Maiti Nepal. She reached Maiti Nepal on 16-03-2009.Likewise, 7 children and women were rescued by Rescue Foundation(Mumbai) from various circumstances and were handed over to Bhairahawa Transit Home of Maiti Nepal. They were brought to Maiti Nepal head office at Kathmandu on 18-03-2009. Three of them are minors.
One of the girls was trying to go to the Gulf via India as foreign employee. When she found that she was given fake passport by the agent, she went to the police so that she could be safe from being trafficked. The police transferred her to Child Welfare Community ( Mumbai) and later she was temporarily sheltered in Rescue Foundation.
Two girls were rescued in helpless condition from the Sahara Airport( Mumbai) in separate occasions. One of them was sent back to Mumbai from the Gulf when the officials found she was carrying fake passport .The other became helpless when she could not trace out her way from the airport.
One of the girls had been in Mumbai as domestic employee. She could not find the conditions up to her expectations and went to Rescue foundation for shelter
The other three girls were rescued from the exploitative conditions of brothels. On reaching Maiti Nepal, they produced a deep sigh of relief. After all, they were liberated from the heinous scenario of the torturous brothels.
