Girls exploited during foreign employment take shelter in Maiti Nepal in
pathetic conditions !!!Two girls who had been to Lebanon and Saudi Arabia for employment on separate occasions were handed over to Maiti Nepal by Tribhuvan International Airport Metropolitan police in horrendous and exploited conditions.
Dava Bhuti Tamang Sherpa,21, years of age hailing from Rasuwa district and Padma Darai, a native of Chitwan district of Nepal were brought under Maiti Nepal's protection on January 28, 2009. Dava Bhutu has lost vision from one of her eyes, her hands are scratched , burnt and she is physically feeble. She was sent to lebanon by one of her close relatives on conditions of getting 150 USD per month. But Dava Bhuti has not got a single penny till date.
Like wise , Padma Darai, 23 years of age, had been sent to Saudi Arabia in 2006. She is facing mental disorders and not in the position of revealing further details. Maiti Nepal has transferred the girl to Kathmandu Medical College for further treatment.
Trafficking of girls and women from Nepal to the overseas in the name of foreign employment has been increasing drastically in the recent times. Human Trafficking in the 21st century is undoubtedly a shame to humanity. Maiti Nepal is of the view that human trafficking, whatever may be the modes and forms, should be strictly checked and the perpetrators should be brought to books. At the same time, we demand foreign employment be made systematic and secure.
