These were the excerpts of the 8 children and women,who reached Maiti Nepal's rehabilitation home on Monday night at 9 pm after a long journey from Mumbai to Gorakhpur,and from Gorakhpur again to Bhairahawa and eventually reaching Kathmandu after a tiring journey of 3 days and 3 nights.
There was an usual curiosity at Maiti Nepal as the survivors reached with teary eyes and trodden heart. They tried to forget every sufferings but how could they do that so easily!
Two of the girls of 25 and 15 years of age were the survivors of trafficking. They had been forced to be in the hellish exploitation as sex worker in brothels of Poona and Mumbai for four and five years respectively. The trickling tears in their eyes could possibly be the symbol of liberation from the ruthless tortures they had ever had in their life.
The rest six of them ,20 to 30 years of age, were the returnees of exploitative foreign employment.An agent was trying to smuggle them to Saudi Arabia through India .Fortunately, they could manage to run away from his clutches in India when they overheard him transacting with other agent in order to sell them.
Remaining three had been in Saudi Arabia for employment. They had been exploited mercilessly in all forms and were sent back to India when they could no longer work there anymore.
After some hours of close counselling and peer support service at Maiti Nepal , all of them produced a sigh of relief. After all ,they had reached their home.
