    The entitled project ?Intervention program to fight HIV and AIDS? was designed by Maiti Nepal, comprised with various diversified grass-root level activities execution. It was to create a favorable environment in the local communities providing enough ground to acquire adequate information and knowledge on the pandemic of HIV and AIDS. The target populations of this development project were the migrant workers and conflict affected population. However, the project did not limit itself within the given arena and was successful in sensitizing all the sections of the society over the issue of HIV and AIDS.

    The project embraced activities such as: District level coordination meeting, Youth Group Formation, Street drama, Door-to-door campaign, IEC materials production, World Aids Day celebration, Anti-human trafficking day celebration, School Orientation Program, Media mobilization, Stakeholders? sensitization meeting, Documentary show, School students group formation (for door-to-door campaign) and competition, Radio jingle broadcasting on message related to HIV/AIDS, School quiz contest, Training on safe migration, Bulletin on HIV/AIDS publication, Question box in schools, Small Display boards, Flex posting in all the working districts.

    During the overall project period of six months, through the execution of abovementioned activities approximately 70 thousand rural people were reached with the message of HIV/AIDS. Those categories of people where from various backgrounds such as students, local youths, stakeholders, transport and migrant workers, conflict affected population, journalists, development workers, housewives etc. The message on the prevention of pandemic was given through multi-dimensional programs, varying upon the existing rural setting and acknowledging the level of understanding of the people. The project accommodated all the possible intervention methods for awakening people through awareness to prevent themselves and put effort to protect others from acquiring the disease.   

    The project was successful in underpinning the principle of ?participation? ?transparency? ?local felt-need? ?local resource utilization? through out the period.  Through various awareness activities the project was successful in reaching to almost all the sections of the society.
