  • European Commission launches project through Maiti Nepal - 2007-12-01

    The entitled project ?Reaching Down and Scaling up Actions to Combat Trafficking of Women and Children? is a unique initiation designed for fighting against the vicious crime of trafficking and enhancing the capacities of potential victims and survivors of trafficking for better life survival. In total, twenty-five VDCs of Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, and Parsa are designated as the working areas of the project where the execution of the programs are to last for the total period of eighteen months. The project aims at providing services benefiting the trafficking affected and survivors? population.

     

    Optimum utilization of local resources and involving the proactive groups (students, clubs and youths) in the fight through the implementation of various programs are some of its unique features. Leadership development training accompanied by life skill training for the potential victims and trafficking survivors population followed by multiple of community awareness campaigns ensuring active participation are another arena that marks the conceptualization of the project a distinct attribute. Involvement of media along with networking activities with concern line agencies reinforces the divergence of the entitled project.
