  • Seventy five years improsonment for girl trafficking - 0000-00-00
    Leader of a gang involved in trafficking more than 100 girls and selling them in India, Bhim Bahadur Basnet has been sentenced to 75 years of imprisonment by the special court.

    Five different cases were filed against Basnet for girl trafficking and flesh trade. He was sentenced to imprisonment of 12 years on each and 15 years sentence on a separate similar case. A Bhutanese national residing in Nepal, Basnet had been involved in the organized racket of flesh trade and girl trafficking to India. In due course of investigation, a startling fact was revealed that they had sold more than 100 girls to a brothel in Pune, India belonging to Suhsma Joshi and Saili Tamang also known as Seeta.

    Another accused Navaraj Lamsal was sentenced to 36 years of imprisonment in the same case. Police arrested both the accused in Maiti Nepal’s active assistance. Maiti Nepal rewarded the person in cash who assisted in their arrest.
