  • Maiti Nepal celebrates AIDS Day 2009 !!! - 2009-12-03

    Maiti Nepal organized a two day celebration programme to mark the AIDS Day for the year 2009.

    On the eve of AIDS Day 30th November, candles were lit at Gaushala,( a busy square near the office of Maiti Nepal) .Children, women and staff of Maiti Nepal, children from the sister organization, police personnels and general public eagerly participated in the programme. The programme was intended towards creating public awareness about HIV/AIDS as well as praying for eternal peace for the souls of millions of people who faced untimely death due to AIDS. Popular daily newspapers covered the event with due importance .

    Similarly, on 1st December, a special programme was organized at Maiti Nepal's Hospice at Gokarna by the children and women. They presented graceful dances, songs and amusing jokes in the presence of a team of staff from the head office. They even participated in some of the interesting games. The innocent children and women left no stone unturned to celebrate the day. Regardless of their condition, they put on every effort and endeavor  to entertain the spectators , who could not resist tears in their eyes.

     Mr. Sabin Gurung, Senior programme officer of Maiti Nepal, gave away the prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, he said that many people have faced untimely death due to lack of awareness of AIDS and the day is the  right time to cherish the memories of all of them.
