  • Thank you Maiti for saving us !!! - 2009-10-25

Maiti Nepal has always tried to bring world's attention towards the trafficking of Nepalese girls and women to gulf countries and to the extremity of pain and violence faced by them. Our main target is to drag  attention  from all concerned sectors so that stringent actions are taken against the traffickers to address  illegal movement of Nepalese girls and women.

When the entire nation was celebrating the main festival of " Deepawali ", Maiti India (New Delhi) rescued four women from the trap of errant traffickers and repatriated them to Maiti Nepal, Kathmandu on October 17th, 2009 . These women are from Morang, Jhapa and Dhading. They were traveling to Kuwait hoping for a better life . Among the four women, two of them did not have passports and one of the women did not even have a citizenship.

The traffickers made hundreds of fake promises and showed them blissful dreams of their future.  They were kept in a dilapidated apartment at New Delhi where there were many other women dreaming of traveling abroad  to earn money, which  never materialized.  Maiti India rescued the  four women with the help of an organization based in New Delhi, India.

Currently, they are at the Rehabilitation Home of Maiti Nepal. They are  immensely happy to be back safe in their home country to celebrate Deepawali. They are grateful to "Maiti" and everyone else involved in their successful  rescue and repatriation.
