- Four women repatriated to Nepal from Mumbai - 2009-10-15
Rescue operation is one of the chief activities under Maiti Nepal's mission . We rescue sex trafficked children girls and women from India and abroad through our partners. Likewise, four women were repatriated to Nepal by Rescue Foundation, an organization based in Mumbai, India They were rescued from heart rending situations and brought to Maiti Nepal for interim shelter and rehabilitation .
Their happiness knew no bounds to be back in their home-country .Their smiling faces and beaming eyes were expressing heartfelt thanks for being rescued and repatriated. Out of the four women, three women were survivors of trafficking and one of them was a returnee from Kuwait. She had been there for employment. She said she was repeatedly gang raped , starved and beaten in the destination country.
As per their wish,. two of have been reintegrated with their family members They were overwhelmed to meet their family members after a long tiresome gap. Memories soared up,happiness bubbled up and tears of joy ran down their eyes. In fact the situation was very emotional.
Meanwhile, two of the trafficking survivors are at the Rehabilitation Home- Maiti Nepal, Kathmandu. They have a desire to receive income generating skills so that they can earn their livelihood, be independent and set an example to other survivors.
Maiti Nepal is conducting series of counseling sessions to help overcome their ruthless past memories , remove their psychological scars and restore their self esteem which was once dilapidated . They are striving towards a new beginning and a secure life where they have no fears of being exploited in any ways. They wish to spread awareness against human trafficking and its irreparable viciousness, in the society.
