  • Women rescued under various circumstances take shelter in Maiti Nepal !!! - 2009-09-07

    Thirteen women and one child , rescued under horrifying conditions ,were referred to Maiti Nepal on 30 August 2009 ,as part of their repatriation process from Rescue Foundation, Mumbai, India

    Out of the twelve women,
    ? Six were intercepted at Kalyan Railway Station in suspicious condition. According to them, they were traveling with two men who promised them better job opportunities in a gulf country. They have been handed over to their family members.
    ? Four of the repatriated girls were rescued at the Sahara International Airport.
    ? Three of them were rescued from a brothel in Mumbai and one of them was with a child. One of the survivors' trafficker has been arrested.

    Medical tests have been conducted on them. They were provided with the psychosocial counseling. Some of them are convinced and have agreed to undertake various life skills training programme offered by Maiti Nepal. Maiti Nepal is also supporting them with necessary legal aid and assistance.
