- Minor girls saved from being trafficked !! - 2009-05-24
Four minor girls, who would otherwise be trafficked, were intercepted at Khanikhola, Dhading District on 20th May, 2009 while they were aiming to cross the border to reach New Delhi. They were planning to go to Kuwait via New Delhi .They were accompanying a man named Man Bahadur Ghalan who lured them with deceitful assurances of lucrative employment at the gulf country.
The intercepted girls were referred to Maiti Nepal head office via Nagdhunga information and vigilance booth . They were provided with comprehensive counseling on safe migration. Maya Ghising, the main organizer of the plan , was called to the office. She said she was unaware of the consequences to the girls at the gulf country. She returned the money that she had taken from the girls as advance.
The four girls expressed their heart felt thanks to Maiti Nepal for saving them from dreadful consequences .
They were reintegrated with their respective families.Trafficking of minor Nepalese girls to the Gulf countries via India in the pretext of foreign employment has become quite frequent in the recent years. Such girls do not get the kind of job and money as promised, they are deprived of basic human rights and are brutally exploited in all forms.
