- 10th batch completes vocational training at Nuwakot Prevention Home - 2004-07-15
The tenth batch comprising of 30 girls and women completed their six months vocational training on July 15, 2004.
Among the 30 girls, 20 were from Sindhupalchowk District and 10 from Nuwakot District. The age of the girls who successfully completed the training ranged from 13 to 22 years.
Training on sewing, tailoring, Dhaka weaving and leadership were conducted for the trainees who are at risk of being trafficked. Non formal education was also one of the integrated components to impart knowledge on gender, rights, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, STDs and trafficking. NFE also included literacy and numeric skills. The trainees were also provided with support services such as shelter, food, primary health care support and counseling in the prevention home.
A farewell programme was organized for the trainees and certificates were distributed to them on July 17, 2004.
