  • Anti Trafficking Day 2005-04-08 - 2007-09-06
Over the last decade there have been concrete efforts in Nepal to address the trafficking and their commercial sexual exploitation. However in recent years the nature of child trafficking has changed. Children are being trafficked for the purpose of labor exploitation, for example in factories or as domestic help. This sometimes involves sexual exploitation as well. In the case of children, trafficking is often an entry point in to other worst forms of child labor. Children, due to their vulnerability, require special attention and protection. In Nepal there should be continued efforts to contribute for the prevention of trafficking.

For the past 3 years, Maiti Nepal has been celebrating Anti Trafficking Day on 24 Chaitra i.e. 07 April 2005 in the districts where Maiti Nepal exists and now we have been advocating with various sectors (Government and organizations) to mark 24 Chaitra as Anti Trafficking Day through Nepal and give it a National significance.

This year various programs (rally, interaction programs) were organised in 30 districts and we have joined hands with UCEP Nepal, Sneh Samaj, LACC, Save The Children U. S., CAC Nepal, Child NGO Federation, Central Child Welfare Committee and CWIN as organizing committee.
