Maiti Nepal celebrated its annual day on 6th April 2005 on the occasion of completion of its twelve years of establishment. Dr. Durga Pokhrel, ex-chairperson of National Woman Commission had kindly consented to grace the ceremony as the chief guest.
To mark the important day, various programs such as blood donation, essay competition, staff talent competition were organized. Sixty personnel from different sectors including Maiti Nepal's staff donated blood. Similarly, twenty three students from thirteen higher secondary schools of the valley participated in the essay competition on the topic "Conflict and Trafficking" that was organised by "Teresa Academy - School for Underprivileged", a school run by Maiti Nepal. Considering the hard done by the Border Surveillance Team working at the borders facing so much of difficulties, three staff working as border surveillance team at border was awarded as the "Best Surveillance Staff". They are Gayatri Rimal, Gita Giri and Sunita Sunar. The selection was done by voting the names of the best worker by the staff of Field offices.
Dr. Pokharel appreciated the activities conducted by Maiti for prevention of trafficking, rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of children and women. She gave away the prize and certificates to the winners.
Representatives from government offices, NGOs, INGOs and well wishers of Maiti Nepal participated in the program.
Mrs. Anuradha Koirala, Chairperson of organization expressed her sincere gratitude to all who have helped Maiti Nepal to reach in the present position. Mr. Bishwo Ram Khadka, General Secretary highlighted the annual progress report of Maiti Nepal.
