Women Rehabilitation Center Itahari


OBJECTIVES 

  • To provide trainings to empower and rehabilitate girls and women who have been survivors of sexual exploitation/ trafficking and those who are highly vulnerable of being sexually exploited/trafficked. 
  • To provide girls/women with various income-generating and life skill training in the rehabilitation home for a period of six months. 
Established in March 2002, Maiti Nepal’s Rehabilitation Home in Itahari, Sunsari has so far provided services to more than 200  girls/women. Their age group vary from 15-25 years. The trainees come from various situations like rescue, rape, destitute and domestic violence. 


Thee rehabilitation Home provides empowerment training that consists of tailoring; knitting sweaters, caps, socks and woollen bags; needlework; making cushions, Kurta Suruwal (a particular type of dress especially worn by the girls/women), loan management; embroidery, boutique items, floriculture and vegetable farming. Four girls/women were dropped-out from the training as they were re-integrated to their family.
