A case against incest has been lodged at area police office Biratnagar
on 2069 Kartik 22. As per the complaint filed at Maiti Nepal’s office at
Biratnagar, the culprit Amar Bahadur Bhujel used to rape his step
daughter repeatedly who was a minor and made her pregnant.

A thirty year old male, Ram Tamang who was on his way to Saudi Arabia to earn his living had to step back when he tested positive for HIV in his medical examination. After visiting some doctors with his whole family,it was found out that even his wife and son were HIV positive. Then he finally came to Sonja Jeevan Kendra , Maiti Nepal , along with his wife, Anita Tamang aged 24, Daughter Sapana, 7 and son Himal,4.
Kanchhi Maya had had never thought that she would one day be trafficked
by her own brother. Her utmost faith upon him acted like venom which
totally ruined her life.
6th national Anti human trafficking day was observed with intense enthusiasm and participation in Nepal. Maiti Nepal commemorated the day with a week long programme. Various activities were conducted by the central office and branch offices with innovative approach and ideas.
Three students –Priya Sherpa , Samjhana Pokhrel and Krishna Neupane, who were brought up and educated by Maiti Nepal came victorious in MBBS entrance Examination conducted by Kathmandu University. The jubilant students will be joining Lumbini Medical college affiliated to Kathmandu University by September 10, 2012
Two criminals who were nabbed by Area police office Rani on charge of
trafficking a girl was ultimately convicted by honourable district court
Morang. The court sentenced each of the culprits with one hundred
thousand rupees fine and 15 years of rigorous jail terms. Besides, the
court decided that the survivor should be granted 50,000 rupees as
compensation.
Violence against women prevails in every society in more or less magnitude, although it is unjustifiable and is against the basic norms of human rights. It is rampant in developing nations and societies where patriarchy is the module of operation.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the skipper of Indian National Cricket Team paid a visit to Maiti Nepal on 17 june, 2012. On the occasion, children and women staying in Maiti Nepal welcomed him by offering Khada and performing cultural shows. Two girls ,seventeen years of age, who were trafficked to Khasa, Tibet
in the pretext of pursuing nice jobs, finally escaped from the heinous
condition after three nights long horrendous journey through the forest
of Khasa.

Human Trafficking case registered in Area police office, Biratnagar
Mandira Pariyar, whose daughter Kusum Pariyar, made a narrow escape from the ugly clutches of three trafficker filed a case against them on 17 February 2012 at area police station Rani, in Biratnmagar.

Statistical figures of Maiti Nepal’s direct beneficiaries have gone up
in the recent years. It has been offering wide range of activities to
quell the gravity of human trafficking. Activities related to
prevention, interception at the border points, formal and non formal
education programs have been proved to be influential in curbing down
the intensity of human trafficking in Nepalese society.
In a recent attempt made by Maiti Nepal’s newly established office at Kodari, Sindhupalchowk, three girls were rescued from the Chinese territory of Tibetan Khasa. The girls , who were aged from 15 to 18 years were employed as bar dancers in dance restaurants located in the region. According to them, they were held as captives and forced into prostitution with a minimum pay of wages.

district court convicted Purna Tamang, a permanent resident of Sindhupalchowk
district with 20 years of rigorous jail terms and two hundred thousand rupees
fine on 20 December, 2011.
P kumari ( name changed) , resident of Mugu District , Hengalu VDC, who was trafficked to India by Shankar Raj Timilsina of Kailali District was eventually granted justice by the District Court Kalali. The trafficker , 23 years of age, was sentenced 10 years of rigorous jail term with 50 thousand rupees fine and 20 thousand rupees compensation to the victim, under the sincere initiation of Maiti Nepal.

A case related to Human Trafficking was filed in Morang District Court in 14 Feb 2011. The case was decided by the Morang appellate court. The criminal Sandhya Devi Sah was sentenced 5 years of imprisonment, fined with 25,000 NRS and the plaintiff Maya Marandi was granted 12,500 NRS compensation.
"S Kumari " who was trafficked by a trafficker named Bir Bahadur finally got the justice. The trafficker was sentenced with 10 years of imprisonment, fifty thousand rupees fine and 25 thousand rupees compensation by the honourable district court of Kanchanpur. The verdict was given by the bench of honourable justice Bhoj Raj Sharma on 10 July 2011 as per the human trafficking and Transportation Act 2007 AD.
