44 Nepalese women refused entry and sent back to Nepal by the Government of UAE currently under the protection of Maiti Nepal

On 2nd May 2017, 44 Nepalese women were refused entry and sent back to Nepal by the Government of UAE for not being able to present authentic documents relating to their travel purpose. The women were on their way to Kuwait as domestic helpers. The government of Nepal has already banned women from migrating as domestic helpers to Middle East due to which these women had been forced to travel through fraudulent evidences to Dubai via Delhi by the agents. Their travel plans, while leaving the Delhi airport, stated they were leaving for Kenya en route Dubai. The women however were being planned to be sent to Kuwait instead of Kenya from there.

All these 44 women are currently under the protection of Maiti Nepal and are receiving psycho-social counseling,health services as well as legal aid. Maiti Nepal further plans to support these women by providing them training on income generating skills in areas of their interest to make them economically empowered.Maiti Nepal request all concerned Go/Ngo’s,Human rights organization pay serious attention to the changing form of foreign employment !!
